When I reflect on my service as Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives from the fall of 2012 to early 2015, I am humbled in recalling the many legislative accomplishments that I helped shepherd into law with the teamwork and strength of a committed, common sense conservative super-majority.
Two of the accomplishments stand out for the significant, enduring, positive impact they will have for Missouri taxpayers: enacting the first income tax cut in nearly 100 years and last year’s passage of Amendment 10, which thankfully ends Gov. Jay Nixon’s determination to play politics with our tax dollars, our children, the disabled and our seniors by withholding funds duly appropriated by the legislature in the state budget.
While there are many people that deserve credit for these two major, historic accomplishments, I can unequivocally state that neither of them would have happened without the tireless efforts of my friend and colleague, Bev Randles.
As Chairman of the Missouri Club for Growth, Bev fought relentlessly in support of tax relief, traveling the state and encouraging voters to tell their legislators to support passage of historic income tax cuts and support overriding Nixon’s vetoes of that legislation.
More recently, during the 2014 general election, Bev led the statewide “Yes on Amendment 10” effort. Bev went toe-to-toe with Gov. Nixon and because of her efforts, Amendment 10 passed overwhelmingly.
I was so impressed by Bev’s tenacity in these policy battles and by her leadership of the Missouri Club for Growth, that I recently agreed to join the Club for Growth board myself.
As I am sure you have heard, last week, Bev stepped down from the Club for Growth board to focus all of her time and attention on her exploratory committee for the office of Lieutenant Governor for the State of Missouri…and she tells me that she will most likely be making a decision as to whether she will run by June 30th.
Based on my work with Bev while Speaker, and more recently as a colleague on the Missouri Club for Growth board, I know that Bev would be an outstanding Lieutenant Governor for our great state.
Because I believe so strongly in Bev and her ability to bring a fresh vision, new leadership and a renewed passion to Missouri politics, I have donated $25,000 to her exploratory committee and am fully encouraging her to become an official candidate for Lieutenant Governor.
I will do whatever I can to encourage Bev to commit to this race and help her win, but it is going to take more than just my prodding to convince Bev to make her candidacy official. That is why I am asking you to join this effort with me today and also make a commitment to support Bev.
Please click here and join me in making a contribution, not just to Bev’s exploratory committee, but also to the future of Missouri and to fresh, new leadership in Missouri’s Lieutenant Governor’s Office.
A gift of $10, $25, $100, $500, or any generous amount you can give will let Bev know that you’re as committed as I am to the future of our state.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to join me in this effort. Together, I know we can help Bev Randles become Missouri’s next Lieutenant Governor which will truly help in our vision of making Missouri a better place to live, work, raise a family and pursue the American dream.
